As stated in the title Zipper will be releasing more DLC for MAG on the 29th of this month.  Oh and just like the other DLC it is free.  Yes that’s right FREE!  Definitely can’t go wrong with that.  So what is in this new batch of goodies.  According to the Playstation.Blog and Jeremy Dunham / Sr. Community Manager, Zipper Interactive it will consist of:

First, we’re adding three brand new Special Edition Sniper Rifles (Raven’s HM 90 SE, SVER’s SASR M, and Valor’s MK 14 Mod 1 EBR) that include a number of performance adjustments and visual variations to our already-popular long-range weapons. Second, you can expect to get your hands on a collection of new armor types! All three factions can now choose to equip Improved Light Armor in their loadouts for the bargain price of just 400 in-game credits.

So there you have it a whole bunch of great updates I am definitely looking forward to the improved light armor.  Anyway, the update will be available on April 29th when the Playstation store updates in your area.

Last night Sony released a mandatory update, 3.30, for the Playstation 3.  In this update it adds all new features, most notable for trophies.  Here’s what was in the update.

  • Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]

    • Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
    • Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
    • Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)

In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

As for hidden features, I’ve read on another website, that this update also upgrades the flash player on the browser.

On Friday Zipper Interactive announced an update to Mag.  Patch version 1.05 will be available to download on Monday, April 19 at 1am Pacific/ 4am Eastern/ 9am GMT.  Coming in this update is a number of fixes and upgrades to the guns and fixes some common in game glitches.   Zipper also states that it will have more info on it’s next DLC in as soon as next week.

So what does this update actually do:

  • Adjusted automatic Leadership selection criteria to include Leadership point total in preference formula.

Technical

  • Fixed issue with the game lock-ups caused by “hanging” black screen following the conclusion of a gameplay round.
  • Repaired crash that sometimes occurred after playing more than 15 consecutive rounds.
  • Resolved issue with rare game crash that occurred during playback of intro video.
  • Numerous localization changes for in-game text.

After much deliberation and teasing through twitter Yoichi Wada and Square have finally confirmed a PSN release of Final Fantasy IX.   Confirmed on twitter through a six second video by none other than Yoichi himself.  I’m especially excited for this since VII and VIII I already had on discs so IX will be the first one I’ll get to purchase from the PSN store.

Firmware Update 3.21 Available Now

ps3installotheros

It’s not common for a manufacturer to push a firmware update that removes a system capability; but that’s exactly what will happen with today’s v3.21 update for the PS3. No, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke. Update v3.21 will remove the option to install another operating system (aka Linux) on the fatty PS3’s; an option that was already removed on the Slim versions. SCEA’s Patrick Seybold explains on PS Blog that the removal of the option is necessary "due to security concerns … [and] will help ensure that PS3 owners will continue to have access to the broad range of gaming and entertainment content from SCE and its content partners on a more secure system."

This update push may be in response to recent claims of “hackery” that you may remember and seems like a preventative measure on Sony’s part. Although this update will not affect most of us PS3 users, I’m sure there some that are cringing as they read this. Either way, it’s a small price to pay to access PSN from now on.
